ERIC M. DEPOPAS, MD
Prior to joining X-Ray Associates of NM, Dr. DePopas completed his residency and fellowship in Vascular & Interventional Radiology at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. Dr. DePopas specializes in the management of uterine fibroids (uterine fibroid embolization), pelvic congestion syndrome (gonadal vein embolization), non-healing foot ulcers related to clogged arteries in the legs termed peripheral arterial disease (lower extremity revascularization), venous insufficiency related to varicose veins (sclerotherapy) and May-Thurner Syndrome, liver cancer treatment (chemoembolization, Yttrium-90 radioembolization, microwave ablation), and all forms of pain management including compression fracture treatment (kyphoplasty/vertebroplasty) and spine arthritis treatment (nerve ablation/rhizotomy).
Dr. DePopas is the Chief Medical Officer of PainTheory, a free service that links patients to the best doctors in their local area and helps them understand their eligibility for minimally invasive procedures. Dr. DePopas’ main practice philosophy is to treat and advise every patient the same way he would a family member. Communication, empathy, continuous learning, and focusing on one’s values are the staples of his practice.
Although he has over 5 years of training in minimally invasive procedures, he believes the most effective treatments involve the mind and body. As such, he practices mindfulness meditation and walking meditation regularly to stay present in everyday life. He also believes in the power of physical movement and exercise as ways to strengthen the body and immune system.
